4 Tips for Eating Sushi
4 Tips for Eating Sushi
Use Chopsticks
Sushi is traditionally enjoyed with either chopsticks or your fingers! No matter your preference, make sure your sushi etiquette is in place–always clean your fingers off first. As part of your etiquette at an authentic Japanese restaurant, try not to ask for a fork or a knife. Give the chopsticks a try and experience Japanese cuisine how it is meant to be!
Eat Your Sushi in One Piece
Sushi is a beautiful piece of Japanese food that requires delicate art and detail for the proper cut of fish and rice softness to blend perfectly. Eating your piece of sushi in one bite allows for the flavors to explode together in your mouth taking you on a tasteful journey, making you feel like you are in Japan.
Use Ginger & Wasabi
Properly incorporating ginger and wasabi into your sushi dish will help enhance your overall sushi experience. Ginger does not go on top of your sushi. It is instead to be eaten between sushi servings to refresh and cleanse your taste palate. Wasabi is not meant to be mixed into your soy sauce. Instead, dab a small piece of wasabi on one side of your sushi and then flip to dab the other side into your soy sauce, allowing the flavors to properly mingle and enhance your dining experience.
Know Your Fish
Understanding and knowing your fish will allow you to order from our sushi menu with ease! Different types of fish will have different flavor profiles and will pair differently with your chosen cocktail. At Nikko Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, we only use the highest quality and freshest ingredients to ensure your sushi is perfectly delectable.
